Apologies to anyone who just happens to be named for the young girl in that book by Nabokov.

I always admired the propensity of The Police to advertise the other bands who really should be on your turntable. The first time I saw them (in 1983, empty arena, opening act Joan Jett picked up a girl I know), Stewart wore an XTC t-shirt.

Stewart was the hot one, Sting.

The band hung out with some of us teenagers afterwards at the hotel bar.
